SEIFSA Annual Conference – times they are a changing!

Jackie Carroll, Media Works CEO, recently attended the SEIFSA Annual Conference.

“Survival of the fittest” was the theme of this year’s conference. SEIFSA put together a range of interesting presentations, two of which were particularly relevant to the future of skills development in South Africa. Gail Elliott’s presentation, aptly titled “Winds of Change”, provided some useful information on the December 2008 amendments to the Skills Development Act.

Daryl McLean’s presentation was a most helpful and insightful look at the future of SETAs. Called “The New World for SETAs from 2010”, Daryl went through the problems with skills development currently and then went through the key arguments for and against SETA reestablishment.
