Isaac Gizane — a Geotechnical Assistant at Petra Diamonds, Koffiefontein in the Free State — has excelled in his Adult Education and Training (AET) course work with Media Works.

Hailing from Koffiefontein, Isaac started his working life at De Beers mine in 1996. He was a general worker within the development division and was later appointed as Geotechnical Assistant, a position he held until he was retrenched in 2005.

In 2010, Isaac was employed by Petra Diamonds as a development worker, and was soon promoted to a Geotechnical Assistant position.

Isaac had completed his Grade 12, and has always yearned to study further. He wished to learn more to be able to perform his job more effectively, and to progress. When Isaac found out that he could further his studies with Petra Diamonds, through Media Works, he jumped at the opportunity.

He started his training in June 2015, and to date he has completed Numeracy Level 2, 3 and 4, as well as Communications Level 4. Through hard work, determination and a great aptitude for learning, Isaac has achieved exceptional results, including 86% for Numeracy Level 4 and 67% for Communication Level 4.

“The training has changed my life, especially Numeracy Level 4. There were difficult sums to be completed, but with the assistance of our facilitators, I was able to make it. It was really a great achievement for me. I couldn’t have succeeded and finished without the help of the facilitators; it was because of their experience and patience that I was able to succeed,” says Isaac.

“It is never too late to achieve your goals in life. What you achieve through education will never be taken away from you, and one door will open at a time,” Isaac continues.

We congratulate Isaac for his hard work, determination and brilliant results, and wish him everything of the best for his future studies and career development.
